Notes:
For my final project, I decided to translate concepts from painting to photography. As part of my working set, I chose the photo of the BART station lighting inspired by Mondrian and the photo of the Wayland’s Meats shopfront inspired by Hofmann.
Though the aesthetic is very different, I’ve also added this photo to the mix. I took it a couple of weeks before class started, and I’m not sure how it will fit. However, it was well-liked by the class and seems worth including. This image resembles some of Ernst Haas’ abstract photos of torn posters in terms of subject matter, texture, and color saturation.
